One of the core virtues of our school is Largesse or generosity. It is important to note that this is not just about giving, but about generosity of self, laughing (at yourself) hugging, and being generous with all that we are.
The challenge this week is to go all out. Be generous with yourself. Give something away that you treasure.
I have long been challenged by my good friend Mackan Andersson who, said to me “I try never to buy anything that I am not willing to give away” .....

Let’s spend a week in Examen of our generosity and Largesse...

1. God what ways have you been generous to me today
2. God in what ways have you invited me to be generous
3. God forgive me when I have failed ....
4. Help me to be more generous

Challenge of Loyalty

Our next virtue is Loyalty, the challenge this week is to go all out and show our loyalty to God, will you stand up for him in EVERY moment this week, will you pray your examen and ask the question “Have I been loyal Lord? What opportunities did you give me? How did I respond?”

A challenge of courage

“courage ‘the first of human qualities’ as Churchill knew, ‘because it is the quality that guarantees the others’. Indeed, it takes courage to love doesn’t it? It takes courage to trust someone with your life, it takes courage to believe what you cannot see. It takes courage to follow Christ” 1

This week we are focusing on courage. All week long I want you to be aware of the call to be courageous. And the challenge is to do something this week that you have never dared to to do before or something that you have struggled with because of fear.

During the week we pray the Examen of courage...
Pray for Awareness
In what ways did God give you opportunities to be courageous today?
Praise God for the victories and pray forgiveness for when you failed.
Pray that you will be able to grow in courage tomorrow.

Examen - Challenge to pray

The first NeoKnight challenge of the year is a prayer challenge. It is important that we start the year and every endeavor for that matter with God.

Awareness Examen is one of the spiritual disciplines fathered by Ignatius. It is an exercise where one examines the day in prayer with God. This examen has six parts and is modeled by Ignatius but reworded to fit into our understanding of the Christian life as a love story played out on a battle field, a romance under attack.

The challenge is to take at least 15 minutes every night this week and pray through this examen. This kind of prayer works well to candle light and soft music, it is also wise to keep a Journal close by to take down any insights or promptings from God.

EXAMEN
1. Awareness
Pray for God to open up the day that has gone and show in what ways he has revealed himself, ask for the holy spirit to guide you and make you aware and sensitive.

2. Romance
Looking at our day, in what ways have God shown his love for us, where have we seen beauty, what glimpses of God have we seen today?
Pray that God will show you even more tomorrow and that you will be receptive and aware enough to recognise it when it happens.

3. Adventure
Looking at our day, has God prompted us to do certain things, have we been invited to any adventures by the wild goose? What opportunities where presented and did we take them.

4. Battle
Looking back at our day, what attacks have come our way, and what temptations? Are there any areas where we have resigned instead of stepping up?

5. Restoration
Seeing our inadequateness we turn to God and ask for forgiveness for the signs we missed, the doors we did not enter and the battles where we resigned...

6. The road ahead
Looking at tomorrow we ask God to give us grace to move closer to him tomorrow to succeed where we might have failed today.
